Wrap text around an object

Text wrap keeps body copy clear of an image, shape, or other object without cutting the story into many frames. Select the object that should push text away, then open its Text wrap controls in Properties or the context menu.

Choose Both sides for a typical magazine layout, Left or Right to reserve one side, Largest to use the roomier side, or Jump to keep text above and below the object. Set a margin so the letters do not touch its edge. Start with a modest gap and inspect narrow columns for cramped lines.

For a closed ellipse or vector path, Contour can follow the outline instead of a rectangular box. Other objects use their bounds. Wrap affects eligible text frames that overlap the object on the same canvas, regardless of which object is in front. It does not change the wrapped object's own text.

If one text frame should ignore nearby wrap objects, select that frame and turn on Ignore text wrap. This is useful for a caption or label placed on top of a photo. Review the final line breaks after moving the object and before exporting.
