Add hyperlinks to text

Hyperlinks make a digital document easier to navigate. Edit a text frame, select the words that should be clickable, then choose Insert → Hyperlink. Enter a web address or choose an internal page target, and apply the link. Reopen the hyperlink control on linked text to change or remove it.

Use descriptive link text such as a chapter name or an action. A bare URL is harder to read in a design, and a label like “click here” gives little context when links are read out of order. Check the destination after adding it, especially when it points to another page that may later be reordered.

Export behavior#

Links are useful in the editor and in supported digital PDF output. The RGB vector PDF export can include web and internal page annotations. A print-ready CMYK PDF/X is meant for press output and does not carry those interactive links. If the recipient needs a clickable PDF, choose the digital PDF path and test the exported file in a PDF reader. For the differences between export formats, see the Export dialog.
